Privacy policy
Effective October 23, 2026. Last updated October 25, 2026.
StoryPacket is owned and operated by SPARK DIGITAL GROUP LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website, use our tools or request access. StoryPacket is intended for people 18 and over.
What we collect
When you run a free check, we collect your email address and the story you send, as a link or as pasted text. If you send a link, our server downloads the story from the website that hosts it. We keep the story text and details such as its title, headings, links, images and word count.
The free check form says that by running a check, you agree to our terms of service and this policy. We record when you ran the check and which version of that notice the form showed you.
If you use the StoryPacket app, we collect your email address, the workspaces you belong to and your role in each. We keep the stories you check, the documents you upload as sources and the reports we make. Before your first check, the app asks you to confirm a statement about AI, and we record when you confirmed it and which version you saw.
We keep the report we make for you. It includes the findings, the passages it quotes from your story and the suggested headlines and summaries. We also keep records of how the check ran, such as its steps, timing, the AI models used and their cost.
To apply our limits and stop abuse, we store a hashed version of your IP address instead of the address itself. Our server makes it with a secret key that only the server holds. It lets us see when several requests come from the same address. Providers that your browser connects to, such as our hosting provider, still receive your IP address as part of that connection.
When you ask for full access, we collect your name, publication, role, email address and any message you write.
When something goes wrong, the site sends us an error report. We set up our error reporting to leave out story text, email addresses, form contents, cookies and IP addresses.
Stories can contain personal information about you or other people, and your report quotes parts of the story. Send only stories you have the right to share.
How we use it
We use your email address and story to run the check, show you the report and email you about that check. These emails are the confirmation link, a new link if you ask for one, and the message that says your report is ready or could not finish.
We use your email address and the hashed IP address to apply the free limits and block automated abuse. Each email address can run 3 free checks a day. We also limit how many checks one network can start in an hour, and how many checks everyone together can run in a day.
To make the report, we send the story text to AI model providers. We do not send your email address to them.
We only email you a confirmation link and your report. We do not send newsletters, marketing or other follow-up email to the address you use for a free check. If we ever offer email about StoryPacket, you will have to choose it with a separate box on the form, and it will not be ticked for you.
We use the details in a full access request to reply to you and to talk with you about StoryPacket. Each request is also emailed to our team, with the number of free checks your email address ran that day.
We use error reports to find and fix problems with the site.
How long we keep it
We delete each free check 30 days after you send it, with its story, report, email address and records of how it ran. Your report link stops working when the 30 days end. Deletion runs once a day, so it usually happens within a day after that.
We delete each check in the StoryPacket app 30 days after it starts, with its story, report, the documents uploaded for it and records of how it ran. Documents uploaded to a workspace are deleted 30 days after upload. The same daily job does this deletion. We keep the record of your AI confirmation while your account exists.
Test checks that StoryPacket runs itself are deleted after 2 days.
We keep full access requests for 1 year, then delete them. A request is kept apart from your free check, so it can outlast your report. The copy emailed to our team stays in our inbox, which this automatic deletion does not cover.
We keep a record of each email we send for 7 days. It holds the type of email, an internal reference and the time. We use it to stay within our daily sending limit.
Our service providers may keep copies of information they handled for us, such as logs and backups, under their own retention rules. Emails we sent you stay in your inbox until you delete them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Email privacy@storypacket.com from the address you used and say what you would like us to do. We may ask you to confirm that the request comes from you. Do not send us a password or a full story to prove who you are.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you more rights. Email us to use them, and we will respond as those laws require.
If you believe someone under 18 has sent us information, email privacy@storypacket.com and we will delete it.
Report links and security
We email your report to you as a private link that contains a secret code. Browsers do not send that code when they request the page, so it stays out of our server logs. The report page sends it to our server separately to load your report, and we store only a hashed version of it.
Anyone who has the link can open the report until it is deleted, so share it only with people you trust.
Our website and app use our database only from our servers. Your browser does not connect to it directly. The keys that can get around our database access rules stay on our servers. In the app, those access rules limit what each signed-in person can read.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page.
